Golden Power Ram

Viktoria Koestler was born in Munich and now lives and works in Zurich. In 2016, she started her professional art career after leaving her job at a management consultancy. Today she works in a studio in a former factory in the centre of Zurich. Her source of inspiration comes from the majesty of nature, working with precious metals and through her interaction with all kinds of different people.

The Swiss ALS Foundation, founded in 2003, supports research in the field of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in Switzerland through donations. The foundation mainly finances studies on basic research and on improving the quality of life of ALS patients. The intention is to find the causes of the disease and thus create a foundation that makes a cure possible.

Golden Power Ram
The ram, considered as a power animal, is assertive and full of decisiveness. Its horns also give it an outward expression of these strengths. For us humans, this animal can be a sign of resistance and resilience. Especially in recent years, these abilities have been strongly challenged by the pandemic. Within the art project, the ram stands as a symbol for these strengths.
Design-wise, the ram should be painted with opaque colours - black, grey and white. Accents are set with 24-carat gold. The gilding is an essential stylistic element of the artist Viktoria Koestler. The real gold is meant to underline the majestic dominance of the animal. The gold represents light and thus contrasts with the (non-)colours used. Where there is light, there is also shadow. This interplay is meant to inspire the viewer to ask questions: Where can I bring more light into my life? Which elements of shadow am I suppressing in my life? Which doors can I open to bring light into the darkness of my existence?

Ram only for use inside.
Size is approx. 75 x 40 x 68 cm (Width x Depth x Height) and weight is approx. 23 kg (ram + base).
